Nigeria’s Flamingos Drawn to Face Host Nation in Group A of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

The draw for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Saturday.

This marks a historic moment for the Dominican Republic, as it hosts a FIFA tournament for the first time ever. The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 16 to November 3, 2024.

The draw revealed that Nigeria’s Flamingos will face the host nation, Dominican Republic, in Group A, alongside Ecuador and New Zealand. Kenya and Zambia will represent Africa in Group C and D, respectively.

The full list of groups and teams is as follows:

Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria
Group B: Spain, USA, Korea Republic, Colombia
Group C: Korea DPR, Mexico, Kenya, England
Group D: Japan, Poland, Brazil, Zambia

Reigning champions Spain will face USA, Korea Republic, and Colombia in Group B. This year’s tournament marks a significant milestone for the Dominican Republic, as it makes its debut in a FIFA women’s showpiece. Tickets for the U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 will go on sale on August 27.

The final is set to take place on November 3 in the nation’s capital, with 16 teams competing to lift the trophy and follow in the footsteps of former champions DPR Korea, Korea Republic, France, Japan, and Spain.
