Reactions have poured in after Senator Olalere Oyewumi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), admitted to buying votes during the 2023 General Election. The senator’s confession has sparked outrage, with many calling for his investigation and prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a viral video, Oyewumi revealed that he had attempted to buy votes at a polling unit but was rejected by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The senator’s admission has been met with widespread criticism, with many Nigerians expressing disappointment and anger on social media.

The APC leadership has also responded, stating that Oyewumi’s confession confirms that the election in Osun State was not free and fair. The party’s chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, called for Oyewumi’s investigation and prosecution, saying that he should not be allowed to remain in the Senate.
