The Nigerian government has dropped all charges against Tigran Gambaryan, an executive at Binance Holdings, who had been facing a money laundering trial.

The charges were withdrawn during a hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday morning.

A lawyer representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the agency responsible for prosecuting the case, announced the decision to withdraw the charges.

The hearing took place discreetly, just two days before the originally scheduled October 25 court date, seemingly to minimize public attention.

The prosecuting lawyer explained that Gambaryan, a United States citizen, was merely an employee of Binance and not personally responsible for the company’s activities related to the charges.

Mark Mordi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) representing Mr. Gambaryan, supported the prosecution’s position, emphasizing that his client was not involved in the company’s broader financial decisions.

Gambaryan had been held in detention since April, and this development marks a significant turning point in his case.
