Popular Nollywood actress, Monalisa Stephen, has passed away. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Lagos, reportedly due to complications arising from low blood sugar and internal bleeding.

A close family member confirmed her death and publicly announced on Wednesday by Seun Oloketuyi, CEO of Best of Nollywood (BON), via a heartfelt Instagram post.

“Brand influencer Monalisa Ayobami Stephen is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul,” Oloketuyi wrote.

Monalisa Stephen, renowned for her bold advocacy on body positivity, mental health, and self-love, had become a prominent voice in Nigeria’s entertainment and social media space.

Known for challenging stereotypes and promoting acceptance, she often made headlines with her unapologetic stance on body image and the pressures of beauty standards.
