Nigeria Clinches Second Spot with 120 Medals at 13th African Games

Nigeria has clinched the second position at the 13th African Games, showcasing its prowess in sports by amassing a total of 120 medals across 25 disciplines.

The Nigerian contingent demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, securing a remarkable haul of 47 gold, 33 silver, and 40 bronze medals throughout the competition.

Weightlifting emerged as Nigeria’s standout sport, with the team delivering a stellar performance and bagging a total of 32 medals. Among these were 16 gold, 10 silver, and six bronze medals, highlighting the country’s dominance in the discipline.

Athletics also contributed significantly to Nigeria’s medal count, securing a total of 22 medals and reaffirming the nation’s prowess on the track and field.

In addition to weightlifting and athletics, Nigeria showcased its strength in wrestling, boxing, and arm wrestling, clinching 12 medals in wrestling, eight gold medals in boxing, and 13 medals in arm wrestling.

While Nigeria celebrated its impressive achievement, Egypt emerged as the overall winner of the Games, claiming the top spot with an outstanding tally of 189 medals. The Egyptian team secured 101 gold, 46 silver, and 42 bronze medals, showcasing their dominance across various sports.

South Africa also showcased formidable performance, securing the third position on the medals table with a total of 106 medals. The South African contingent amassed 32 gold, 32 silver, and 42 bronze medals.
