Immediate past Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, yesterday said she had directed her lawyers to take legal steps against the court judgment asking her to account for the alleged missing N30 trillion.

The court while delivering judgment in a suit filed by the Socio-Economic Rights Agenda in pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, had ordered the Federal Government and Okonjo-Iweala to provide information relating to the N30trn allegedly unaccounted for.

Her plan to appeal the judgment is contained in a statement by the former Minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu in Abuja yesterday.

It would be recalled that following a statement by Prof. Soludo, an anti-corruption non-governmental organ, the Socio-Economic Rights Agenda (SERAP) sought information from the former Minister concerning the alleged missing funds in line with the Freedom of Information Act. Having failed to get the information, SERAP headed for the court to press for its request, which it got last week.

However, Okonjo Iweala yesterday averred that it was wrong for the court to have held her accountable for a public information request made after she had left office, more so that she was never served.
