NFFThe Nigeria Football Federation has cancelled Wednesday’s friendly between the country’s U20 women side and Confluence Queens due to administrative reasons.

The Falconets’ clash with the Women Premier League side was expected to be Peter Dedevbo’s side first high-profile pre-tournament friendly for the next month’s Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The botched match disrupted the preparatory programmes of the Falconets as they failed to train on Tuesday as a result of the scheduled friendly.

“The match has been cancelled. We really wanted it but due to administrative reasons we called it off,” NFF source disclosed to newsmen.

“The team will be traveling to Papua New Guinea for the World Cup next week and we cannot afford to take any risk whatsoever with the players.”

It will be recalled that the Falconets defeated Abees Golden Academy 4-3 in a local friendly match at the Fifa Goal Project Pitch in Abuja – their fourth test match against age-grade male opponents.

Despite their poor preparation, Dedevbo’s ladies will be hoping to record success when they begin their campaign against Japan on November 13, 2016, at the Bava Park in Port Moresby.
