Surface Pro

Build and Display

The new Surface Pro, which comes without an expected ‘5’ in its name, sports premium construction with a body made of a magnesium-aluminium alloy. One wouldn’t expect anything less at this price.

The Surface Pro now comes with a redesigned hinge which lets you use it in even more modes. You can now flip the 2-in-1 as far back as 165 degrees to use it in a ‘Studio’ mode.

The slim hybrid comes with an improved keyboard featuring a coated, supposedly stain-resistant Alcantara material. Microsoft says users can expect more accurate typing. The keyboard still comes as a separate accessory.

You get the same great 12.3-inch display on the Surface Pro. This unit boasts a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels for remarkably sharp images.

Power and Performance

The last time the Surface Pro tablet got an upgrade was in 2015, so the device was in seriuos need for an update. The Windows tablet features latest seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake processors.

As always, you have diverse options as regard level of performance to expect. Two of the new Surface Pro models – Core m3 and Core i5 – are fanless. Microsoft also says the new Intel Core i7 models of the 2-in-1 are the quietest ever in the line-up.

Each of the CPU offerings comes with a different graphics solution – Intel HD Graphics 615, HD Graphics 620 or Iris Plus Graphics 640. On board RAM capacity ranges from 4 GB to 16 GB. This iPad Pro rival offers about 13 and half hours of battery life – 50% longer lasting than the Surface Pro 4.

Other Specs and Features

Solid state drives with up to 1TB capacity are provided for storage, boosting the performance potential of the Surface Pro. The 2-in-1 boots Windows 10 operating system. It offers full-size USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort and microSDXC card reader amongst its port and interface options.

In keeping with its tablet status, the Surface Pro offers 8MP rear camera and 5MP selfie camera. Both units can capture Full HD (1080p) videos. You also get dual microphones and stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium support. The hybrid will support 4G LTE connectivity.

Pricing and availability

The Surface Pro will start shipping from June 15, 2017 starting at $799. We do not have official price or availability for Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya for now. When available, you should be able to buy the tablet at leading online stores in the countries. Microsoft Surface Pro Price in Nigeria is expected to range from 295,000 Naira to 1,050,000 Naira depending on the model.
