NCDC records 626 new COVID cases in nine states, FCT

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 626 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, 31st of August 2021.

According to NCDC on its official website, the new infections were recorded in nine states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Lagos recorded the highest number of infections with 335 cases, 134 in Rivers, and 60 in Oyo.

Other states which recorded infections are FCT (41), Osun (20), Plateau (14), Ogun (9), Ekiti (7), Kwara (6), and Benue (1).

The agency also revealed that 14 persons died of the infection on Tuesday, bringing the COVID death toll in the country to 2,469.

The agency said 267 patients were discharged on Tuesday after recovering from the infection.

With this figure, a total of 178,759 patients have so far recovered from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

A total of 192,431 coronavirus cases have now been confirmed across the country.
