Dr Doyin Okupe, former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on Public Affairs, has debunked allegations in the media that his former office was being probed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of investigations into the infamous $2.1 billion arms procurement funds saga.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed and made available on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Dr Okupe said his office did not have budget and capital vote and lacked the capacity to awards contracts, hence could not have made any payments to Daar Communications Limited as is being purveyed in some sections of the media.

“I was employed to do a job and I was loyal and committed totally to my employer and whatever I considered was important in the line of my duty.

“I did not receive neither did I take any special gratifications for what I did. This is what is difficult for most of my detractors to believe,” he said.

He accused the writers of the article in which the allegation was made of “speculating and imagining things that are not real”.

“The EFCC cannot embark on an investigation based purely on fiction and delusionary imaginations,” he noted.

“Even if people are paid to bring imaginary political enemies down, do they not have the fear of God?

“Those who are impatiently waiting for my arrest, by the Grace of the Almighty God who I serve, and whose precepts I have kept all my life, in and out of office, will wait till kingdom come,” he stressed.
