Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to rule out a move to bitter rivals Barcelona or former club, Manchester United in the nearest future.

In a Thursday interview with Associated Press, the Portuguese talisman said it would be “very complicated” to play for the clubs but did not categorically say it was impossible.

According to him, he was keeping his options open because nothing is certain in football.

Also, Ronaldo said a move outside Europe was also not out of the picture, adding that he could consider a move to the MLS in America.

Speaking of a potential switch to Camp Nou, the 30-year-old said: “It’s a little more difficult, but….” This was followed by a long pause, but he didn’t dismiss the possibility.

Furthermore, Ronaldo noted: “There are things that you kind of already have an idea, that to play one day for Barcelona would be almost impossible, or to play for another English club other than Manchester, it’s very complicated,” he stated. “But that’s not 100 percent guaranteed. As I said before, there are no certainties in football.”

If he makes the switch to Barcelona, he will not be the first to do so, as many players have switched either way in the past.

Former FIFA World Player of the Year and fellow Portuguese moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000 in a move widely-criticised by Barca fans, while present Barcelona manager Luis Enrique switched from Real to Barcelona 1996.
