MTN Reaffirms Commitment to Nigeria at South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission

MTN Group and its Nigerian subsidiary, MTN Nigeria, have expressed satisfaction with their participation in the 11th South Africa-Nigeria Bi-National Commission, held in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The high-profile meeting, which aimed to strengthen ties and accelerate cooperation between the two nations, underscored the growing importance of collaboration in fostering economic progress.

The MTN delegation, led by Group President & CEO Ralph Mupita, MTN Nigeria Chairman Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, and MTN Nigeria CEO Karl Olutokun Toriola, engaged with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the sidelines of the event.

The meeting was hosted by South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Hon. Parks Tau.

MTN Nigeria holds a crucial position within the MTN Group, contributing 27% of the company’s total subscribers and accounting for 23% of its Group service revenue.

The company reiterated its pride in being a key player in Nigeria’s economic landscape.

In a statement shared on LinkedIn, MTN highlighted its support for the objectives of the Bi-National Commission and the transformative potential of the digital economy.

“We believe in the Bi-National Commission’s objectives and the pivotal role of the digital economy in driving inclusive growth in Nigeria. We look forward to continuing our support for economic development initiatives,” the statement read.
