MTN Nigeria has set a significant milestone by becoming the first Nigerian organisation, the first company in the telecommunications sector, and the first within the MTN Group to earn the Compliance Management System (CMS) certification from the International Accreditation Service (IAS).

This globally recognised certification highlights MTN Nigeria’s commitment to upholding world-class compliance standards across its operations.

The certification encompasses a wide range of activities, including telecommunications, digital services, mobile voice and data, innovative digital platforms, wholesale distribution, fixed and mobile broadband connectivity, and advanced technology solutions tailored for corporate and institutional clients nationwide.

Commenting on the achievement, Obiageli Ugboma, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at MTN Nigeria, said:

“Achieving this feat is a testament to our robust compliance framework and proactive approach to managing risks in an ever-changing digital landscape. It reinforces our promise to connect Nigerians with secure, reliable, and innovative solutions.”

The International Accreditation Service (IAS) is a globally recognised accreditation body that accredits a range of organisations, including governmental entities, commercial enterprises, and professional associations. Its accreditations adhere to recognised national and international standards, ensuring global credibility and acceptance.

The certification aligns with the ISO 37301:2021 Compliance Management System (CMS) standard, which serves as the benchmark for effective compliance management. This standard provides a framework for organisations to establish, implement, evaluate, and improve compliance systems to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

MTN Nigeria’s achievement not only solidifies its reputation as a leader in compliance management but also enhances stakeholder trust. The certification underscores the company’s commitment to fostering a culture of integrity, mitigating risks, and improving corporate governance and operational efficiency.
