MTN Nigeria has extended the application deadline for its 2025 Media Innovation Programme (MIP) to April 12, offering more time for aspiring media professionals to apply for the prestigious six-month training opportunity.
Initially launched on March 24, the application window was set to close on April 7, but MTN says the deadline extension was prompted by a surge in applications.
The MIP, which is now in its fourth edition, is run in partnership with the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University (PAU).
It offers a certificate programme designed to equip journalists, content creators, and media professionals with the tools needed to thrive in an evolving, digital-first media environment.
According to Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Nigeria, the decision to extend the application deadline came after a virtual engagement session hosted by previous MIP fellows on April 4.
The session attracted significant interest and highlighted the need to allow more diverse voices to participate.
“After the webinar on April 4 hosted by past MIP fellows to support the applicants, it was important to extend the deadline to enable more diverse voices to have a chance to be part of this experience,” Okigbo said in a statement on Thursday.
The MIP fellowship provides intensive training, international exposure, networking opportunities, and digital storytelling masterclasses, aiming to nurture leaders in the media and communications space.
Launched in 2022, the programme is part of MTN’s broader commitment to media development in Nigeria and offers participants an immersive learning experience that blends classroom teaching, industry visits, and practical assignments.
The programme’s website states that MIP “aims to equip participants to adapt, innovate, and lead in a digitally driven environment.”
Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their entries before April 12, 2025, via the official application link.
