Nigerian singer Mr May D has sparked controversy by claiming that Wizkid, his Grammy-winning colleague, would not have surpassed him in the music industry if he hadn’t experienced a fallout with his former record label, Square Records.

May D made the statement during a heated exchange with Wizkid fans on X, formerly known as Twitter. The altercation began after the singer shared a post praising Davido, which seemingly triggered a reaction from Wizkid’s supporters.

“Because I spoke about David, Wizkid boys are attacking me. Lmao, even Wiz [Wizkid] knows I love him, but if y’all come for me, I’ll finish all of you and your oga,” May D wrote. He added, “If no be wetin happen between me and Psquare, who be Wiz [Wizkid]? Chai.”

The singer also issued a warning to fans, asserting his own influence in the industry. “Even your Wizkid knows his limits! Don’t f*ck with me,” he said.

May D’s remarks have stirred debate on social media, with some fans defending Wizkid’s achievements and others discussing the impact of May D’s fallout with Square Records on his career trajectory.

Known for hits like “Soundtrack” and “Ile Ijo”, May D was previously affiliated with the iconic music duo Psquare before parting ways in 2012.
