Jasmine Okekeagwu, the adopted daughter of John Okafor “Mr Ibu”, has finally addressed the swirling controversies surrounding her relationship with the veteran actor amidst allegations of fraud involving N55 million.

In an over two-hour video, Jasmine provided insights into her connection with Mr Ibu, shedding light on the circumstances that led to the recent allegations.

Addressing the accusations, Jasmine began by expressing her reluctance to speak out until Mr Ibu had recovered from his illness.

She revealed that Mr Ibu had played a significant fatherly role in her life following the passing of her own father, who had been a close friend of the actor.

“My dad died so many years ago; he was a Nigerian army and a good friend to Mr Ibu, who is now a father figure in my life,” Jasmine explained.

“After my dad’s death, Mr Ibu has been playing a father figure role in my life.”

Jasmine went on to narrate her journey, stating that she had left the country in 2018 in search of better opportunities and eventually relocated to Cyprus to pursue a degree in law.

However, in 2020, she received distressing messages from Mr Ibu, who revealed his deteriorating health condition and financial struggles.

“In 2020, Mr Ibu started requesting financial assistance from me on chat, and I was surprised because he was doing well and almost at the peak of his career before I left,” Jasmine recounted. “He now opened up to me that he was sick and was in Abuja, while his wife was in Lagos.”

Amidst the revelations, Jasmine expressed her reluctance to divulge further details but emphasized the necessity of speaking her truth amidst the escalating situation.

“I didn’t want to speak, but things have gotten to a point that I have to speak up my truth,” she concluded.
