Auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe delivered key testimony on Saturday at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, during the ongoing coroner’s inquest into the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
The coroner’s inquest into the death of popular Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, took another shape as auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe recounted the frantic attempts to save his life amid heavy traffic and confusion.
According to Ogedengbe, after Mohbad was placed in the vehicle of a man identified as Darosha, she couldn’t join them due to limited space. Instead, she and Ayobami, another associate, followed in the Uber Ayobami had ordered, constantly communicating with those in Darosha’s vehicle to keep track of their location.
“It took about 20 minutes to get to the second hospital at Osapa London in Lekki due to heavy traffic. On a normal day, the journey shouldn’t have taken more than 10 minutes,” she explained.
Upon arrival at the second hospital around 6 p.m., Ogedengbe noted that they found Mohbad outside the building because the hospital management had refused to let Darosha bring him in. Despite this, the medical team on duty checked for a pulse but found none.
“The doctor on call invited me into the hospital and asked me to sit in the reception area. While others stayed outside, I explained everything that happened just as I had told the first doctor,” she said.
Ogedengbe further stated that the doctor at the second hospital requested to speak with two family members, leading to conversations with Darosha and Spending, who had accompanied them. The group spent approximately an hour at the hospital before she returned to Mohbad’s house around 7 p.m., only to find the place crowded with concerned individuals.
“Mohbad’s body was brought back to the house at about 8 p.m. Many people were gathered outside, and Mohbad’s lawyer eventually joined us,” she recounted.
Later that night, at around 9 p.m., Ogedengbe, along with Ayobami, her cousin who is a lawyer, and Mohbad’s lawyer, visited the police station at Orchid Lekki in an effort to obtain a death certificate.
“I explained everything to the officer who attended to us. After listening, the officer asked Mohbad’s lawyer and Ayobami if they wanted to file a complaint against me or initiate an investigation. They were unsure at that point,” she said.
The police officer then advised them to proceed to Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah if a police report was needed.
Ogedengbe concluded her testimony by stating that Mohbad’s lawyer could provide a detailed account of the quest for the police report and death certificate. The coroner’s inquest continues, with the case adjourned to March 21, 2025, for further hearing.
