Manchester City are set to make a £50 million bid for Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez as they look to prise the Chilean away from the Gunners.

The Daily Star report that City will also offer Sanchez a whopping £275,000 a week, which would make him one of the league’s best paid players. The 28-year old has one year left on his contract and is currently in a contract stand-off with Arsenal.

The London club do not want to sell Sanchez to one of their title rivals and would prefer to sell him to a club outside England. But the Chilean international has his heart set on staying in England. And he could force his way into a move to the Etihad stadium.

Sanchez scored 30 goals and had 19 assists last season as Arsenal finished fifth in the English Premier League. It is rumored that Sanchez is frustrated over his club’s failure to compete for the league title during his time at the Emirates Stadium.

And a move to the highly ambitious Manchester City would reunite him with Pep Guardiola, who signed him for Barcelona in 2011. City have already shown that they are prepared to pay big bucks in the transfer window. They have signed attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Eduardo for a combined cost of £78.5 million.

City are also interested in signing at least two full-backs with Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy being linked with big money moves to the club. And with Alexis Sanchez also on their list, the Citizens are set for a big squad overhaul as Pep Guardiola looks to stamp his authority on English football.
