In the aftermath of the 17th Headies Awards, singer Lojay has addressed the issue of artists publicly criticizing award shows following their losses.

Speaking on Hiptv’s “Trending,” Lojay said that while it is natural to feel emotional, artists should maintain professionalism and avoid disparaging award events.

The recent Headies ceremony saw some controversy, with artists like Shallipopi expressing dissatisfaction despite winning awards, even declaring he would not attend future ceremonies. Lojay, who won Best Male Vocal Performance, emphasized the need to keep emotions in check.

“Everybody can get emotional about stuff for particular reasons, and that’s okay. I just feel like at the end of the day, you’re meant to be a professional artist, so don’t let your emotions take control,” he said. He added, “I don’t think it makes sense to start trashing an award show just because you did not win.”

His comments call for a respectful approach to award outcomes, promoting professionalism in the industry.
