Lagos State Police have confirmed the location where Adedamola Ogunbode, a recent graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), was buried. This development follows the capture of Olaoluwa Ajisomo, the primary suspect in the case. Authorities apprehended Ajisomo on Monday in the Alakuko area of Lagos. He is believed to have drained Ogunbode’s bank account using the victim’s phone. Police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that Ajisomo subsequently led investigators to the burial site.

Ogunbode, who graduated with a degree in Political Science Education, had been missing since January 16, 2025. Speculation surrounding his disappearance intensified after reports of a mutilated body surfaced. Last week, police announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with the case and the ongoing search for five others. Those arrested included Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member alleged to have received N300,000. Additionally, Omolara Ajisomo, the mother of the primary suspect, was taken into custody for allegedly aiding her children, Olaoluwa and Teniola Ajisomo, in their attempted flight after each reportedly received 300,000 naira from the victim’s account.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the investigation after student groups threatened protests. Hundeyin clarified that the burial site is located within the community, but not on the church grounds, contrary to social media rumors. The church where the pastor worshipped has been sealed by police due to intelligence suggesting a planned arson attack.
“The shallow grave is not around the church premises, but it is there in the community. The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it out of vengeance, and we do not want that to happen,” Hundeyin explained.

An investigative source confirmed that detectives were proceeding to exhume the body. “I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site,” the source revealed. Hundeyin confirmed this information.
