Lagos state senior police officer Timothy Falowo is accused of brutally attacking a man and causing serious injury over a scratch on his car.

According to P.M. News, the victim, one Alkanolu Smart, has been confined to a hospital bed since the incident, with doctors saying that his brain was badly damaged and caused total breakdown of his nervous system.

Moreover, Smart might be unable to work properly, as the internal bleeding caused partial stroke that has paralyzed him.

The incident occurred on July 15 when the victim was returning from work via Cele Express to Egbe-Ikotun. The man boarded tricycle (Keke Napep) but on getting to Jakande Estate he decided to disembark from the Keke because of a traffic jam.

Falowo, attached to Ire Akari Estate Police Station at Isolo, DSP Adeola, allegedly approached the man mistaking him for Keke rider, and accused Smart of scratching his car.

The man was trying to explain that he was just a passenger and not a driver of the vehicle, however his attempts pleaded unsuccessful.

The policeman started beating Smart and was reportedly joined by several other people. Then Falowo hit the victim’s head with an unknown object and took him to Ejigbo Police Division where he had to pay N65,000 before having been released.

Smart was set free on only the next day when the police discovered he had been inflicted with serious injuries, and his health started deteriorating.

Later on, several hospitals rejected the man because his condition had worsened, however he was finally taken to a specialist at Benin in Edo State.

Smart admitted to having spent over N600,000 since the incident but is yet to recover.

According to the victim, when he contacted Falowo, the policeman showed no signs of regret and threatened to deal with him again.

Responding to the journalists’ inquiries, Falowo said that it was Smart who actually attacked him.
