The Lagos State Police Command has announced a significant deployment of officers and tactical units across Lagos to guarantee a safe and peaceful Easter celebration, okay.ng reports.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh ordered the immediate deployment of conventional officers alongside elite units such as the Police Mobile Force, Rapid Response Squad, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, Explosive Ordnance Disposal squad, K9 units, and mounted troops to key locations statewide.
“All strategic locations across the length and breadth of Lagos State including the identified black spots and flash points” are being secured to prevent crime, alleviate fear among residents and visitors, and ensure smooth Easter celebrations, the police said. Special focus is on churches, recreational centers, and other public venues expecting large crowds, which “are going to be properly policed.”
The command is also providing officers with logistics support including armored personnel carriers and patrol vehicles. This initiative aims to nip security breaches in the bud and maintain public order before, during, and after the festivities. Jimoh emphasized collaboration with other security agencies such as the military, paramilitary, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
He instructed officers to be “courteous, polite, professional but firm” while respecting citizens’ rights. Lagosians were urged to cooperate with security forces and report suspicious activities promptly. The police also called on parents to caution their children against disruptive behavior during the holiday.
Jimoh extended Easter greetings, wishing all a celebration filled with peace, love, and joy.
