The Lagos State Government has announced the closure of Akin Adesola Street in Victoria Island for the BMW Autofest, scheduled to take place on December 15, 2024.

The event will require a temporary traffic diversion from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., according to a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi.

Osiyemi outlined alternative routes for motorists to mitigate traffic disruptions during the event:

  • Falomo to Ahmadu Bello via Akin Adesola: Drivers are advised to turn right into Adeola Odeku, proceed to Eletu Ogabi Street, then connect to Kasumu Ekemode Street and Bishop Oluwole Street, before rejoining Akin Adesola Street.
  • Ahmadu Bello to Falomo Bridge via Akin Adesola: Motorists should turn right to access Karimu Kotun Street, then link Sanusi Fafunwa Street to reconnect with Akin Adesola Street.
  • Adeola Odeku to Falomo Bridge: Drivers can use the Akin Olugbade U-Turn in a contraflow arrangement to access Akin Adesola Street and continue their journey.

However, Adeola Odeku to Ahmadu Bello will remain open for free movement during the event.

Osiyemi urged motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management personnel who will be stationed along the diversion corridors to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
