Popular Nigerian singer, Korede Bello, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to leave Mavin Records, he joined in February 2014 and exited in 2021.

In a recent interview with Hip TV, hosted by reality star KimOprah, Bello disclosed that he chose to part ways with Mavin because he felt more like a product focused on generating revenue than an artist with a deeper purpose.

“I was at a season in my life where I needed to metamorphose, to explore my inner worth, to do introspection, understand myself, understand meaning more, and reconnect to my why,” Bello explained.

The “Godwin” singer noted that his time at Mavins began to feel like a continuous pursuit of success without considering what truly mattered to him. “Because I was at a stage where I started to feel like a product that is just there [at Mavin Records] to make money,” he said.

Bello also pointed out the challenges artists face when they become overly focused on achieving their next hit. “You lose sight of what matters when you chase after the next hit, after the next whatever it is that can get you into conversations. So a lot of artists are addicted to that circle,” he added.
