KOGI POLY Students raze truck motorbikes as okada rider kills female undergraduate

Kogi Polytechnic students reportedly clashed with motorcycle (known as okoda) riders after a female student died from stab wounds.

The student was allegedly stabbed on Monday by an okada man who ply the area. We don’t know why she was stabbed.

After the death of their female colleagues, angry students on Tuesday poured on Felele highway in Lokoja and blocked the route.

They also clashed with okada riders some of whom had there motorcycles seized and burned, reports say.

Reports say truck drivers are also being warned to avoid the route as rioting students were reported to have set a truck on fire.

Anti-riot policemen have been deployed to calm the situation, a police source told NewsroomNG.

The clash resulted in serious traffic along the route on Tuesday afternoon. Several drivers stranded in the area took to social media to complain of their plight.

The incident is also generating controversy on social media.

Some say the person who died from stab wounds is not a student at all. Others say she need not be a student…she only needs to be human.

“And that means her life is beyond important,” a commenter said.
