Nigerian singer and co-founder of Five Star Music, Kcee, has refuted recent claims made by Harrysong, his former label mate, alleging that he wrote Kcee’s hit songs.

Last year, Harrysong accused Kcee of withholding royalties owed to him and asserted that he played a significant role in shaping Kcee’s musical success by penning songs like ‘Limpopo’, ‘Pull Over’, and ‘Okpekete’.

In a recent interview on the Afrobeats podcast, Kcee dismissed Harrysong’s claims, stating that he had already gained recognition before their association. He pointed out his victory in the 2002 Star Quest competition and his release of three albums under Kennis Music, his previous record label, as evidence of his established career prior to Harrysong’s involvement.

“When I won Star Quest, Harrysong was in the village with his grandmother,” Kcee remarked, questioning Harrysong’s contribution to his earlier musical projects. Additionally, Kcee expressed concern for Harrysong’s well-being, suggesting that his former colleague may be facing personal challenges.

“I did three albums with Kennis Music, did Harrysong write those? Harrysong has a problem, we need to pray for him. Jokes apart, we need to pray for him,” Kcee emphasized.

This is not the first instance of tension between the two artists. In 2017, Harrysong departed from Five Star Music to establish his own label, Altar Plate, amidst conflicts with Kcee and his brother E-Money, co-owner of Five Star Music. However, the disagreement was later resolved, with Harrysong issuing an apology for his actions.
