The Katsina State Government has initiated a 30-day joint security operation across 19 frontline local government areas to combat a recent surge in bandit attacks, as reported by Okay.ng.

The announcement was made late Tuesday by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu, following an expanded State Security Council meeting at the Government House in Katsina. The meeting, convened by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, aimed to address the heightened security challenges exacerbated by the rainy season and high crops, which have provided cover for bandits.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including members of the State Security Council, Local Government chairmen, district heads, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), representatives from the Department of State Services, Heads of Vigilante Groups, Katsina Community Watch Corps Commanders, and Civil Defence officials from the affected local government areas.

The operation will cover the following areas: Jibia, Batsari, Safana, Danmusa, Kankia, Faskari, Dandume, Sabuwa, Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Kankara, Musawa, Matazu, Malumfashi, Danja, Bakori, Funtua, Charanchi, and Batagarawa.

Mu’azu revealed that the meeting resulted in the adoption of several resolutions, including the implementation of a community-based approach to security.
