The Kano Division of the High Court of Justice has fixed May 27, 2024, for the commencement of hearing on three applications related to the suspension of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC). The applications include a preliminary objection, joinder application, and challenge of jurisdiction.

The court, presided over by Justice Usman Malam Na’abba, set the date after listening to counsels from both parties involved. The applicants, Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani Barguma, are seeking an order of interim injunction on Ganduje’s suspension.

The court had earlier granted an order directing parties to maintain status quo as of April 15, 2024, in relation to Ganduje’s suspension by the Ganduje Ward executive committee.

Counsel to the applicant, Ibrahim Sa’ad, requested a new date to respond to the counter affidavit filed by the respondent. Counsel to the first, second, and third respondents did not object to the request. The fourth respondent’s counsel, Lydia Oyewo, raised concerns about not being served with the court processes.
