Kannywood actress Mansura Isah has announced the end of her second marriage, describing the experience as “sudden and shocking.”
Speaking on Mahangar Zamani, a BBC Hausa programme, alongside actress Fati Mohammad, Mansura said she believed she had married for love, only to realise later that her husband’s intentions were different.
“I thought I had married for love, but in the end, it became clear that his intentions were different. It wasn’t real love,” she said.
Mansura, who previously married Kannywood star Sani Danja, tied the knot with her second husband in June 2024. She explained that she met him through an uncle after securing a business contract in Lagos.
According to her, she had no representative in Lagos and reached out to him for help in overseeing the deal.
“Suddenly, he proposed marriage, and I accepted, believing he was sincere. He even assured me I could continue my acting career. We had a nighttime wedding, and by morning, he left for Lagos,” she said in Hausa.
The actress recounted that she was “shocked” when he presented a contract agreement during the wedding ceremony and “coerced” her to sign over control of the “N4 billion project.”
“I never saw him again after that. He stopped answering my calls and eventually divorced me,” Mansura said.
She added that when she confronted him in Lagos, he claimed he had “forgotten” he was married. Though he initially refused to issue a divorce, he later did under pressure.
