A storey building under construction at Idi-Araba in the Mushin district of Lagos State collapsed on Sunday afternoon, leaving an unknown number of people trapped beneath the rubble.
Emergency teams are currently working to rescue those still caught in the debris.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services confirmed the incident through their spokesman, Shakiru Amodu, who stated, “A male adult has been rescued while efforts are ongoing to rescue other victims trapped under the rubble.” According to Amodu, the building was only at the one-storey stage when it gave way.
The cause of the collapse remains unclear, and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities scramble to reach survivors. This incident adds to a growing list of building collapses in Lagos and surrounding states, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of construction regulations.
Further details will be provided as the situation develops.
