German Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has officially confirmed the appointment of Dutch manager Erik ten Hag as their new head coach.
The 54-year-old tactician has signed a contract that will keep him at the helm through the end of the 2026/27 season.
In a statement released on Monday via the club’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bayer Leverkusen enthusiastically welcomed Ten Hag, declaring: “Let’s get started! Erik ten Hag signs with Bayer 04 as our new head coach until 2027!”
Ten Hag replaces Xabi Alonso, who previously led the club to notable domestic success before departing. The Dutch manager was widely regarded as the leading candidate for the position following Alonso’s exit.
The club confirmed the deal is a two-year agreement, signaling their confidence in Ten Hag’s ability to steer the team forward in the competitive Bundesliga landscape.
