Sonia, the estranged wife of Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo, has issued a public apology to her ex-husband following their recent social media controversies during their separation, Okay.ng reports.

In a now-trending post on Instagram shared on Tuesday, Sonia reflected on their time together and expressed her deep admiration for Ighalo, calling him a “wonderful man.”

“Many individuals assert that I possess powerful, mysterious allure, which is why I’m particularly cautious about the people I allow into my life. Ending a relationship or friendship is always challenging for me,” she wrote.

Recalling their journey, Sonia expressed gratitude for the time they shared, acknowledging the challenges they both faced during their marriage, including the struggles surrounding their separation and eventual divorce.

“My beloved superstar, we have journeyed far together, and I am truly grateful for the grace God has bestowed on our lives,” she continued. “We both struggled to make this work, even in the face of divorce.”

Sonia went on to acknowledge Ighalo’s efforts as a father and the emotional pain he endured during the separation, despite outwardly portraying happiness on social media.

“You are a wonderful man, and I will always be there for you physically and spiritually,” she added.

In her heartfelt apology, Sonia expressed regret for any negative impact her social media posts may have had on Ighalo, emphasizing the importance of peace in his life and career.

“I am using this opportunity to express my sincere apologies for the negative impact my posts may have had on you,” she said. “Peace is essential for you given the nature of your job, and because of your purity, I bear no resentment towards you. I wish you all the best.”

The couple, who separated in 2019, briefly reconciled in 2021 before finalizing their divorce in 2022.
