Renowned Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has recently shed light on the reasons behind the dissolution of his marriage with Dana Kinduryte, a Lithuanian-American lawyer.

The pair, who tied the knot shortly after the birth of their son Harvis in 2015, announced their separation last year.

Despite his earlier reluctance to discuss his personal life publicly, Iyke has now candidly revealed the emotional struggles that led to the breakdown of his marriage.

In a candid conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa on TikTok, Iyke unveiled the challenges he faced in maintaining a healthy emotional connection with his former wife, particularly after the tragic loss of his mother in 2014.

The actor candidly admitted that he focused intensely on parenting and neglected to reciprocate Kinduryte’s love, ultimately leading to the rift in their relationship.

“I was dealing with two parallels that I could not contain. I just lost my mum, so I was in a place where I did not know how to manage these emotions this woman was giving me,” Iyke revealed during the conversation.

He confessed that he failed to give the required attention to his emotional well-being and even refused to seek therapy, which further compounded his struggles.

“I did not allow myself the luxury of grief, but it cost me because at the end of the day when everybody survived, I started struggling,” Iyke shared.

“My wife was trying to get me to see a therapist. I was like, ‘are you crazy? I have never been with one’.”

The actor acknowledged that he had a significant role to play in the failure of the marriage, emphasizing that he was grappling with conflicting emotions that he found difficult to reconcile.

He also expressed regret for not being able to reciprocate the love that Kinduryte extended to him during their union.
