Nigerian comedian Gloria Oloruntobi, widely known as Maraji, has opened up about a recent car accident that involved her entire family.

The skit maker, who had been noticeably absent from social media since June 2024, revealed that the harrowing incident prompted her break from the public eye.

In a candid YouTube video, Maraji detailed how the accident occurred as they were returning from a church service.

She described the terrifying moment when their family vehicle “spun several times before ending in a ditch.”

“If you have ever been in a car accident, you know it feels like you are in between life and death,” she said. “It feels like you could have just died.”

Maraji expressed how the incident was particularly frightening because her husband and two children were also in the car.

“We were just driving when a car hit us from the side, and we were turning around,” she recalled. “It was like a Nigerian film, it was crazy. The car was just going around and then we found ourselves in the ditch.”

Despite the severity of the crash, Maraji confirmed that everyone in the vehicle, including her two children, Jayden and Jordan, emerged unscathed. “I checked my kids and they were okay. Everybody was just fine, nobody had any injury,” she said.
