Nollywood actress Iniobong Edo, widely known as Ini Edo, candidly discussed her journey into motherhood and the decision to conceive via surrogacy.

The actress when she appeared during the latest episode of ‘Toke Moments,’ hosted by media personality Toke Makinwa revealed that her decision was not made lightly but stemmed from a deep desire to have a child when traditional methods were not proving successful.

She acknowledged the uncertainty about public perception and the emotional aspect of not carrying the child herself.

“It wasn’t a decision that I said I’ll just go and do this. I just knew that I wanted a child, and it wasn’t happening the way I wanted it to happen. I didn’t know what to expect or how the world would perceive it,” Edo shared.

Concerns about her ability to love the child as much as if she had carried her and the child’s well-being troubled Edo initially.

However, after consulting with professionals, she found reassurance and decided to proceed with surrogacy.

The actress highlighted the significance of having a father figure in a child’s life, drawing from her own experience of being her father’s favorite. Edo expressed the importance of waiting for the right person and wanting to build a family with a man.

“I was waiting for the right person. I wanted to have a family. I wanted to do it with a man. I am my father’s favorite. Growing up, I was my father’s pet. For me, a father figure in a child’s life, especially a female child, was so important. My relationship with my father was so enviable even by my mum. They felt he favored me over everyone else. That’s what I wanted for my daughter,” she said.
