The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that 379,245 permanent voter cards (PVCs) remain uncollected in Edo State, just days before the state’s governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Sam Olumekun, INEC’s national commissioner, disclosed that of the 2,629,025 registered voters in Edo, 2,249,780 — representing 85.57 percent — have collected their PVCs, while 14.43 percent (379,245) are yet to be claimed.

“The collection process ended on Sunday, 16th September 2024, and INEC is providing data on PVC collection at the polling unit level in Edo state for transparency,” Olumekun said. He added that the information has been made available on INEC’s website to guide political parties, candidates, and the general public.

The registered voters in Edo State include 1,370,061 males (52.11 percent) and 1,258,964 females (47.89 percent). Youths aged 18 to 35 years make up 37.4 percent (983,133) of the total registered voters, followed by middle-aged individuals (36 to 49 years), who account for 914,806 voters.
