Comedian and actor Ijoba Lande has publicly apologized to filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele, retracting his earlier claims about being underpaid for his role in the TV series “My Sibling and I.”

In a tearful video message, Lande clarified that his initial statement regarding his payment was misunderstood and taken out of context. He stated that while he initially mentioned receiving N90,000, the actual amount he was paid was N190,000. He further explained that Akindele even increased his daily rate of pay after he raised concerns about the initial amount.

Visibly emotional, Lande pleaded with Funke Akindele for her forgiveness, repeatedly insisting that he had no intention of tarnishing her reputation or creating any controversy. He specifically asked her not to pursue legal action against him, stating that he lacks the financial resources to defend himself in such a situation.

Lande explained that the initial video was made during a discussion about actors charging appropriately for their work. He claimed that the portion of the video where he mentioned the N90,000 was a mistake that he corrected by stating the actual amount was N190,000. He alleged that some individuals maliciously edited the video, isolating the incorrect figure to create a false impression.

Lande expressed deep regret for the situation and reiterated his apology to Funke Akindele, emphasizing his lack of intent to cause her harm or engage in a dispute with her. He pleaded for her understanding and forgiveness, fearing potential legal repercussions.
