I am Unaware of Findi’s Resignation as Super Eagles Head Coach – NFF President

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has stated that he is not aware of any resignation by Super Eagles coach, Finidi George. This comes amidst reports that Finidi has resigned following the NFF’s announcement to hire an “expatriate technical adviser” for the team.

The Super Eagles have had a dismal performance in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series, with only three points from four matches. The team’s poor performance has sparked outrage among Nigerian football fans, who are still reeling from the team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Finidi, who took charge of the team in April, is reportedly unhappy with the NFF’s decision to hire an expatriate technical adviser without consulting him. He is also said to be upset about the lack of support from the NFF and the sports minister, including the failure to mobilize Nigerian fans in Ivory Coast to support the team in their recent match against Benin Republic.

Despite reports of Finidi’s resignation, Gusau claims he has not been informed of any such decision. The NFF president’s response came via a WhatsApp message, in which he stated, “Not
