The House of Representatives has postponed its scheduled interactive session with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd). The meeting, which was initially slated for Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM in Abuja, has been moved to a later date following a request from Ibas.

Although the retired naval officer did not specify the reason for his request, the House committee overseeing the session agreed to reschedule the engagement.

This meeting was to be the first major interaction since the committee was inaugurated by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen on April 15. The panel was set up to monitor developments in Rivers State and report back to the House, following the appointment of Ibas as the state’s Sole Administrator.

According to the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi Jnr., the session was intended to review preliminary reports and observations from the state. It would also help the lawmakers fulfill their constitutional mandate under the 1999 Constitution, particularly in cases involving federal oversight of a state.

Though the exact date for the rescheduled session has not been announced, the committee has confirmed its intention to meet with Ibas in due course. When held, the meeting is expected to shed more light on the unfolding political and administrative situation in Rivers State.
