On Monday evening, gunmen broke into the Abdulsalami Abubakar General Hospital in Gulu, Niger State’s Lapai Local Government Area.

According to Okay.ng sources, two people were shot dead while hospital staff members, including doctors and nurses, as well as patients, were taken hostage.

Between 2:30 and 3:00 am, the gunmen reportedly assaulted Gulu in huge numbers and opened fire randomly before entering the hospital.

Details of the incident would be made public once they are known, according to Wasiu Abiodun, spokesman for the Niger State police.

Dr. John, the head of Clinical Services, Usman Zabbo, the head of Hematology, and Awaisu Bida, a member of the medical lab staff, are among those who have been kidnapped.

The wife and daughters of the Chief Pharmacist, as well as many other family members of the patients, are also missing, as are the wife of the Head of Nursing Services and his daughters.

“This is among the most horrific experiences. Since we are unable to remain here any longer, Gulu General Hospital has unfortunately collapsed. Every employee who was on duty last night was taken, a hospital employee said.

“They only left a small number of people with severe conditions. This lacks compassion.
