A tragic incident occurred in Egwuma, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, where suspected armed herders launched a deadly attack, killing six people, including two soldiers.

The attack happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, forcing villagers to flee their homes in panic. According to Philip Ebenyakwu, Caretaker Chairman of Agatu LGA, the gunmen, believed to have come from Kogi State, took the soldiers by surprise, began shooting sporadically, and took the soldiers’ guns before fleeing.

Security forces are being mobilized to address the situation, with the Navy, Air Force Commandant, Commissioner of Police, and Chief Security Aides to the Benue State Governor working together.

However, the Benue State Police spokesperson, Catherine Anene, and Security Adviser to the Benue State Governor, Joseph Har, have not yet confirmed or commented on the incident.
