A family in Zakirai Village, Gabasawa Local Government Area of Kano State, fell victim to a violent home invasion during the predawn hours of Sunday when armed intruders breached their residence.

The target of the attack was the home of Alhaji Yusha’u Ma’aruf, a respected healthcare provider who operates a private medical facility in the area. According to eyewitness accounts, three assailants carrying firearms and bladed weapons forced their way into the property at approximately 2:15 am.

In the ensuing chaos, the attackers inflicted serious injury on 23-year-old Abubakar Yusha’u, severing one of his fingers on his left hand. The intruders then abducted his younger brother, 20-year-old Mohammed Bello Yusha’u, before departing the scene with several mobile devices and an unspecified amount of cash.

When contacted about the incident, Kano State Police Command representative Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa acknowledged the attack and confirmed that law enforcement personnel have initiated efforts to recover the kidnapped victim, with an investigation currently in progress.

During a press briefing at police headquarters in Bompai, spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa detailed an operation conducted on March 6, 2025, at approximately 2:00 pm.

Acting on reliable intelligence, a detective unit led by SP Ahmad Abdullahi from the Jar Kuka Outpost intercepted the suspects at Chula Filling Station in Hotoro Quarters while they were allegedly attempting to purchase an assault rifle.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Shukurana Salihu (25), Rabi’u Dahiru (35), Ya’u Idris (30) from Katsina State, and Muktar Sani (30), a resident of Yandodo Hotoro Quarters in Kano.

A comprehensive search of the suspects yielded multiple weapons including three handmade revolvers, ammunition of various types, edged weapons, and other items of concern. Additionally, authorities recovered over one million naira in cash and items believed to be charms.
