Nollywood actress Shan George has announced the recovery of the ₦3.6 million stolen from her bank account, expressing gratitude to the bank and individuals who assisted in the retrieval process. Taking to her Instagram account on May 8, 2024, the actress conveyed her appreciation and offered prayers for those who supported her financially during her quest to recover the looted funds. George recounted the ordeal during her live session explaining how she fell victim to a scam while attempting to obtain her bank statement for a visa application. Detailing the incident, she revealed that she received an email impersonating Zenith bank, which led to the fraudulent transfer of her funds. “I had tweeted to attract the attention of the bank or the people in charge. I was asking my bank how many days it would take to get the statement so I tagged them. So this person who targeted me sent me an email and I responded to the mail. So the mail was saying that I could apply for it online on the Zenith website to have it sent to my email. So I’m telling you that the way they took the money away, like alert after alert after alert,” George recounted during the live session. The actress had previously sought assistance on social media after discovering the theft on May 3, 2024, just an hour after the funds were stolen from her account by an individual identified as Cecilia Chiagoziem Okoro. In her distress, she appealed to her bank and financial platforms for help, expressing her dire situation and concern for her family’s well-being. “I’m left koboless right now, wetin I go eat wit my children . @zenithbankplc @opay.ng please help me, my account at zenith has been wipped clean just now, paid into Opay,” she had posted.
