Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, on Monday carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle to strengthen the “key ministries” in the state.

A statement signed by the Chief Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, disclosed that there was no particular reason for the reshuffle aside from the need to optimize the productivity of the affected commissioners.

The statement said, “The reshuffle was not for any other reason but for strategic reasons and optimum productivity on the parts of the individual commissioners. They had all done well in their former ministries and the governor in his wisdom believed that they could do better in their current portfolios.

“The truth is that none of them was shifted for non-performance as being rumored in some quarters. They have all been outstanding in the discharge of their responsibilities and the governor had the feeling that they could do more in their new ministries.”

Those affected were the Commissioner for Information, Strategy, Youths and Sports, Engr. Chidi Ibeh, who was moved to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ifeanyi Ararume (Jnr) who was formerly in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry was moved to the Ministry of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and Internal Resources.

The Commissioner for IGR, Chief Vitalis Ajumbe, was moved to the Ministry of Information and Public Utility, while Hon. Rodney Ajaelu was appointed Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Public Safety.

“The governor wishes the concerned commissioners success in their new ministries,” the statement added.
