Governor Dapo Abiodun Receives Excellence Award in Digital Transformation from Babcock University

Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State — Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has been recognized with the Leadership Award of Excellence in Digital Transformation and Cyber Security by Babcock University.

The award was presented during the 2025 Cyber Security Workshop held at the university’s campus in Ilishan-Remo, themed “Building A Resilient Cyber Security Ecosystem: Bridging Academia, Industry, and Organisational Practices.”

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Senator Shuaib Salisu, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cyber Security, praised Governor Abiodun’s commitment to advancing digital technology for developmental purposes.

“Governor Abiodun understands the importance of the 4th Industrial Revolution in career advancement, which is why Ogun State has recorded significant achievements in digital transformation,” he said.

He highlighted that Ogun State’s initiatives, particularly the free tech empowerment programs at the Ogun Tech Hub, have gained both local and international recognition. These initiatives are aimed at empowering youths, tech entrepreneurs, and startups with essential digital skills.

“Nigerian youths must take advantage of the opportunities in digitalization for career growth. The Ogun State government is committed to enhancing career paths for individuals and organizations willing to embrace and leverage digital technology,” Salisu added.

Senator Salisu, who also received the ICT Policy and Cyber Security Advocacy Excellence Award, emphasized the critical role of digitalization in governance.

He noted that the state’s technology-driven approach has significantly enhanced service delivery across various sectors.

According to him, the government remains dedicated to creating career opportunities for individuals and organizations ready to harness digital technology for growth.

The Special Adviser on ICT to the Ogun State Governor, Mr. Dayo Abiodun, expressed appreciation to Babcock University for acknowledging the governor’s achievements.

He noted that the recognition would further inspire the governor’s continuous advocacy for digital economy growth and cybersecurity advancement.

Represented by Olatundun Adekunte, Director of Standard Regulations, Planning, and Research at the Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Mr. Abiodun highlighted several technological innovations initiated by the government.

These include education web portals, land administration systems, and business tax remittance platforms, all designed to enhance efficiency and transparency.

In his remarks, Prof. Oludele Awodele, Director of Academic Planning at Babcock University, commended Governor Abiodun for his visionary leadership in promoting digital adoption.

He acknowledged that the award recognized the governor’s unwavering commitment to driving technological progress and encouraging Ogun State’s embrace of digital innovation for sustainable growth.

“This award is in recognition of the governor’s relentless pursuit of technological advancements, ensuring that the people of Ogun State embrace digital innovation for growth and development,” he said.
