The Ondo State Government has vehemently refuted widespread rumors claiming the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. In a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, residents of the state and the general public were urged to disregard the unfounded speculations about the governor.

Speculations about the true state of Governor Akeredolu’s health have arisen due to his absence from the state and the lack of an official transfer of power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. However, the commissioner confirmed that despite his indisposition, Governor Akeredolu has been actively attending to state matters and fulfilling his duties.

“We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON,” the statement read. “We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain persons seek to draw political mileage from the disinformation.”

While acknowledging the governor’s indisposition, the commissioner assured the public that Governor Akeredolu remains actively engaged in government affairs, delegating responsibilities when necessary. The statement emphasized that the rumors were baseless and urged the public to disregard them.

“We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumor. Aketi is very much alive,” the commissioner stated emphatically.
