Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state on Friday inaugurated new commissioners, warning them against seeing themselves as ‘lords’ over people of the state.

Fayose sacked all the commissioners a few weeks ago before recalling all but two of them. Tunde Ogunleye and Ayodeji Alabi.

The two that were not re-appointed were Owoseeni Ajayi and Deji Adesua, who were replaced by Tunde Ogunleye and Ayodeji Alabi.

Represented by Deputy Governor Kolapo Olusola, he advised the appointees to work assiduously to ensure that the state witness tremendous development.

He also warned them to refrain from betraying the confidence the people have reposed in them.

He reminded them that the people of the state voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party in 2014 with the hope that the hard-biting poverty among the populace will be mitigated.

He said, “Don’t forget that you are coming at a time when Ekiti needs consolidation. You have to be diligent, so that our electoral promises to the good people of Ekiti can be fulfilled.

“See these opportunities as a call to service. Don’t see yourselves as lords or get carried away by these positions. Be courageous and be loyal to the government of Ekiti state. See Ekiti project as achievable and that it can only be achieved through hardwork and selfless service,” he warned.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Alabi promised that they will be loyal to the people and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said they are not unaware of the enormous tasks ahead and the need to redouble efforts to ensure that the people breathe a sigh of relief in terms of improved standard of living and improved dividends of democracy.
