Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku has approved the recruitment of three thousand teachers in the state.

Ishaku, who disclosed this to newsmen through his commissioner of education, Mr. Johaness Jigem, yesterday in Jalingo said the move was a total reformation in the education sector to make it sound, resourceful and result-oriented in line with the national policy on education.

He added that education remains the cornerstone of both human and economic development in Taraba and beyond which must be encouraged at all levels of government.

He noted that the governor directed that only qualified candidate from the state with degree in education and NCE holders should apply adding that federal character system will be adhered to in order to give all section of the state a sense of belonging.

According to him, the approval was necessitated by the performance recorded by the state in last year’s WAEC.

“Taraba State government places high premium on educational attainment to spur candidates towards improved performance in subsequent examination” he added.

He explained that the recruitment was also part of the lifting of ban on employment by the state government last year.
