The Government of Oyo State on Monday announced 50 per cent slash of salaries and entitlement of all political appointees in the state owing to the prevailing economic situation in the country.

Governor AjimobiThe Government of Oyo State on Monday announced 50 per cent slash of salaries and entitlement of all political appointees in the state owing to the prevailing economic situation in the country.The announcement was made by Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olalekan Alli, who addressed newsmen at the state secretariat, Ibadan, adding that the slash will begin with immediate effect.

According to him, “The slash in salary is for all political appointees starting from the Governor, Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Adviser, among others.

“This was approved by the ‎governor along with his cabinet members at the last executive members meeting. This will also include slash in government expense profile, and compensation of political appointees.”

Alli who noted that the Governor would not be excluded from the process, expressed hope that the restructuring exercise of the government would impact positively on the state’s Internally Generated Revenue.
