Google Trends, the popular platform known for providing real-time insights into search behavior, has announced that it will discontinue its email subscription service starting on October 29, 2024.

The company made this disclosure in a statement sent to users on Monday.

According to Google, trend notifications delivered via email will no longer be supported after the specified date.

Additionally, users will lose the ability to create new trend alerts through the Google Trends subscription page.

“We’re writing to let you know about some upcoming changes to Google Trends subscriptions,” the company stated.

“Starting on 29 October 2024, Google Trends trend notifications will no longer be supported and existing alerts will no longer be sent. In addition, creating new trend alerts using the subscription page will no longer be possible.”

Google is advising users who wish to keep a record of their current subscriptions to copy them from the Google Trends subscription page before the service is discontinued.

For years, these alerts have provided valuable insights directly to users’ inboxes.

While the email subscription service will no longer be available, Google is offering alternative methods for users to stay informed about search trends. The company outlined these alternatives in its statement:

“We understand this change may affect how you stay updated on trends,” Google said. “While email subscriptions will no longer be supported, there are alternative ways to access trending information:

  • Homepage Newsletter: Visit the Google Trends homepage to sign up for our daily newsletter and receive the latest trends in your inbox.
  • RSS Feed: Subscribe to the RSS feed for real-time updates on trending topics.

“We hope these alternatives will help you continue to discover insights on Google Trends,” the company concluded.
